Then & Now

Jackson's response to bananas
I began blogging in 2005 when I was stuck behind a desk from 8-6 every day and needed a little something to keep me entertained.  I wrote a lot about dating and relationships, funny work stories, and my nieces, and I often solicited advice from the blogosphere.  Once I quit my desk job to travel and do mission work for a year, my blogging frequency sharply declined.  Now I'm contemplating what to write about as I have free time at the computer, and I realize this week the biggest "issues" (for lack of a better descriptor) in my life have been introducing solids, working on a budget for our family, cleaning, and my son's sleep regression/getting sleep when I can.  Obviously these aren't super exciting or interesting, but I even find myself being drawn to blogs now that deal with these seemingly more mundane topics.

My husband thinks I should start a new family blog, which would be a convenient way to share photos/videos and whatnot of our son with our (SEVEN) parents and other family and friends.  I haven't shared this blog link with his family and don't really want to for several reasons.  I sort of like that this blog tracks my life and the various seasons I've experienced (including when I met my husband and our dating), and I always enjoy reading the archives when I find a new blog I enjoy.  So for now I guess this blog will limp along until I get some blogging mojo or give it up.  Maybe I just need new blog friends :)  I miss my old blogging buddies as many have deleted their blogs or just quit writing; they kept me entertained.

p.s. I'm thankful for technology and being able to snap photographs and videos with my phone.

Perhaps you would feel better if you kept in touch with your aging father and others who helped get you where you are today

Speaking of your old blogging friends...what's going on with Aaron???

It's always good to see a post from you. I don't blog anymore, but miss it some days. Limping is good. It's better than quitting. AND giving your in-laws the address. That's a recipe for disaster, I promise.

i'm still here, but I know what you mean. A lot of my original blogging friends aren't blogging anymore, and I genuinely miss them!

I don't give my family the link to my blog either. Totally get it!

AM if I wasn't do lazy I would have mentioned you and linked. You're my only early original blog friend who still blogs and that I keep in touch with. Never would have thought you'd have twins and be so settled down :)

Aaron and I exchanged emails earlier this year, and he and Sarah were planning a trip to Australia. He was starting a computer related company too.

I've noticed you've not been blogging. Do you think you'll start back?

How about keep this blog but also start a family blog to share photos/milestones of Jackson? That you could give the address to your parents. It makes a VERY great and easy way to scrapbook, to just print the blog out that way :) I've done that with the girls and print every 6 months!

Trish: That's a good idea...I just wonder if I'd really maintain 2 blogs, but I guess the one of Jackson would be easy and the only way I'd come close to scrapbooking :)

I think all new moms go through a reinvention process, blogging moms are no different. Without a doubt, my blog hits teething and pooping a lot more often than it used to and as a result my readership has changed. Is that such a bad thing? Sure, I miss certain blog friends, but I totally get why we've gone our separate ways. Plus, I've met a bevy of new people who continue to make blogging so very worth it. I guess you have to decide what you want out of blogging. It can be a journal, a way to communicate with family or a place to vent. Whatever works best for you at this time in your life!

By the power of Google, I realized I first started commenting/reading your blog in 2006. Quite a bit has changed since then, huh?? I miss our conversations, theological & political debates, and Google IMs, but I am so glad to see where you are, who you have become and the man you are married to now.

May God continue to bless your heart in the many amazing ways that he has these past 6 years. And may the privelege of knowing you continue to bless all of our hearts in and out Of the blogosphere!

Jeff: So very fun to receive a comment from you! You've been one of the best gifts the blogosphere has given me :) I'm thankful for you!
