Ally for President

Two months or so ago we had picture day at the firm. Of course my (male) boss gave me almost no notice, so (1) I happened to be wearing a tee shirt, (2) had an overdue appointment to get my roots done the day AFTER the photo shoot, and (3) had not decorated my office yet (I need a wife). Now I'm supposed to pick a photo to go with my bio; here are a few of the thirty photos of me. Do you know how ridiculous I felt during this process? Feel free to inform me of your choice and/or make fun. The photographer can crop and sprinkle fairy dust on my pick.

Photo # 1: Your attorney is also an aspiring elected official. She loves her country!! Therefore you should hire and/or vote for her.

Photo #2: Aw how sweet, your attorney can tilt her head.

Photo # 3: You don't have a what? What does a camera lense have to do with the price of tea in China? I don't get it.

Photo #4: My arms are crossed. I mean business. Power lawyer. Or not. (That window now has drapes.)

Photo #5: Your attorney can't find a good photographer. Oh, and she works out at the Rush (see the attachment to her car keys beside her Razor).

Photo #6: The one black and white the photographer randomly threw in the mix...with my secretary's head on the left side. Nice touch.

Photo #7: Like many professionals, I often perch on the side of my desk while working. When I'm serving you, we'll be in close communication!

p.s. I am grateful for apple cider. It's finally really cold, and it's nice to drink something warm.

Oh it's as fantastic as you promised!

The first one is actually not bad, although the flag is...um...an interesting back drop!

And, I don't actually hate the arms-crossed one. Maybe not for like a website picture, but I think it is kind of a nice picture of you:-)

Oh, I asked for the flag shot b/c I thought it would be funny. Always thinking about the Facebook profile pic....

I'm partial to black and white. It looked very nice when I clicked on it.

And I too am grateful for apple cider. Tonight was the first night I had some, but I discovered that Starbucks makes it WAY better when I open pouch and pour into hot water.

Ally, for what it's worth I actually really like #4 and #7.

You look great in all the shots, by the way ... so not fair!

I really like #6 but I also like #2 and #7 a lot. Great pics!

Number one cropped-just showing waist up. Otherwise 2 or 7. The one that resembles a turkey looks nothing like you. Oh wait that is beginning of last blog. Dr. Rjj

#1 and #7 :)

They're all decent -- you're really photogenic! My favorite is #7. Love the captions. They're so right-on.

That's awesome. I'm glad I got the sneak-peak yesterday. ;)

Ugh I hate the law firm web site photos. I guess #1, #, 4 or #7 would be my votes.

Oh please. You are probably the most beautiful blogger on the web -- you look great in EVERY photo...

You are hilarious - the captions were more than entertaining. My pick is #7.

ROFL

You look cute in all of them, but I'm not so sure I would want one for my professional bio photo :)

#4 = You mean business!

I think I'd hire the person in #7 to represent me (that is, if her fees are within the range of a freelance writer's income).

You come across as a decent, sincere, and approachable attorney (a very rare type, I might add) in it. By the way, I thought your T-shirt color complements your skin tone. I don't know if this shot needs any fairy dusts from the photographer at all. It's good to go--not just for the corporate bio but for Vanity Fair.

Jennifer: I've never had Starbucks but am glad to know it's so good...of course, I've been boycotting Starbucks for almost two months now, so not sure if I want to break my anti-habit:)

Kylie: I'm leaning towards 7 right now.

Anne: Me too.

Jennifer: Maybe we should include some of my captions on the firm site....

Ella: haha

Starboard: Aw, thanks.

TC: Exactly! But they do fit the tone of the website, and I gotta choose one....

Kenneth: Thanks...I try:) And I'll take all the fairy dust I can get!

I have seen #4 on the cover of every bar association magazine I have ever read.

LOVE the black and white one..you look absolutely beautiful in all of them though...

First one!

Will you be captioning the picture yourself? I hope so ;)

I would pick #4 as my running mate for VP :)

I'm going with #1

You have to have your picture on the website? Am I just clueless about law firm websites? Wow. Can you imagine a counselor website with photos! HA! There would be some good shots...and captions. Think of all the poses I could do!!!
"Hm...and how did that make you feel?"

Can you crop pictures and use some type of program to take care of your roots?

Don't get me wrong - I think you look approachable in these photos and I would not have noticed your roots if it had not been mentioned. I don't think that or the pink shirt detracts at all. I like the gray and pink combo. But I thought if you're wondering about the roots, maybe the computer can deal with that.

I like the black and white and the last photo. The "look me in the eye" photo is very good. The flad one is too though I can't help but crack up and hear the strains of Hail to the Chief...

I think they are all great...but if I were choosing my lawyer based on photos only...I'd pick #4. Even tho the arms crossed probably means you're closed off to me already...but it's business so that's OKAY.

FCF: Glad I look tough! Ha.

Leilani: I'm not sure what the photographer means by fairy dust...but maybe he can fix those things. And yes, he can crop. The flag photo was actually my request b/c I thought it would be hilarious.

Kimberly: It's very common--I'm not sure why though. And yeah, you would need some really sympathetic looking shots.

i like 02, 04, or 07. what'd you end up choosing?

Ally said...

Kathryn: I think my (older) boss wants a say, but I guess I'll go with 7...it fits with the other attorneys' photos and isn't as ridiculous as some of the others...thanks for voting:)
