Did I Speak Too Soon?

I had to let Delta know tonight if I'd accept the Atlanta to Newark to Amsterdam to Athens flight. When I called I asked the operator to double check again for May, and voila in five minutes, she had found me a flight to Geneva, Switzerland with only one stop (in Newark) with a return flight from Madrid. And the flight only "costs" 50,000 Skymiles and will be free to me (except for taxes). I am very excited! I'm still working out a lot of details insofar as exactly where all I'll be going, but it looks like my friend Sam will be joining me for about half of my trip. That should work out well.

On another note, I've been working on one of my resolutions--which is to host more often. It's easy for me to be a total introvert, but I have been attempting to fight that instinct since I think it's important to welcome people into my home and be a good host. Plus I am always glad when I do so. Growing up, my family never had people over. Ever. Unless you count our childhood friends. A few years ago I dated a guy with a large family and a super-mom, and almost every single Sunday their family had guests over for lunch after church. The result was interesting conversation each week, and their children meeting a wide variety of people.

So in the last few weeks I've had people over a lot and really enjoyed cooking and entertaining--and most importantly, some really good conversations. It's become sort of like any good thing--once you step out and try it, you realize how much fun/good it is, and the more you want to do it. It's just a matter of taking those first few steps.

And since everyone else is doing it...and Billy made me this weekend:

Glad your trip is going to work out. Shows what talking to a lawyer will do. Your dad is very concerned about the wording" in the last line of your blog. Just who is this Billy. Dr. Ridge

I think it is so fascinating how rapidly this has spread. But I have to admit it is fun and I like the pictures....

So, when are you cooking for me??

Dr. Ridge: You can tell my father that he has no reason for concern.

e.b.: I like that it only took a minute or two to complete!

Aaron: You always make a big deal of preferring to cook with someone....so we can cook together next time you're in Macon.

Glad your trip all worked out! You must be relieved to have the planning done with.

And I like your hosting idea. Sounds like it's been a good time:)

I need to get on the bandwagon with the picture/interest/image thing. I started it and I think I need to do it over because it didn't save, or something. Many of ours are the same:)

Awesome. My family always had people over, so my siblings and I were taught to entertain at a young age. We also have a big family--with cousins and relatives always coming over.

entertaining is fun when you have great company. :)

that's a good resolution. i'm like you - an introvert -- and need to break out of that shell more often.

I'm glad your skymiles worked out.

I'd love to entertain but with dogs in the house I have this fear that they will find a hair in all the food. I'd rather just take them out to the japanese steakhouse & let the chef blow fire in their face.

Just be wary of hosting little boys who live in your apartment complex :-)

Cindy: Seriously! I actually saw that little boy's mom's cars being "towed" today--they used a CAT piece of equipment to shove it onto the back of a truck. Weird!

FC&F: I felt like I needed to clean all the time with an indoor dog, so I know what you mean.

Jordan: You can meet up with me in Spain:)

Ruby & Trixie: It is. We had wonderful conversation tonight.

Angel: Lucky you! I'm still learning the ropes.

Brookem: Actually the planning is just beginning. But it's a lot of fun and very exciting, so I don't mind.

Ivy: You'll be studying for the Bar then! Sorry to remind you.
